ShopBack ANZ's marketing team sits at the intersection of commercial and consumer — operating at the pace you'd expect from e-commerce, fintech, or marketplace environments. We drive user engagement, retention, and reactivation across owned channels (app, email, push, web), while working hand-in-hand with a fast-moving Business Development (BD) team to take merchant deals to market at pace.
This is a hands-on, high-visibility role with no direct reports. You'll own marketing initiatives end-to-end — from ideation and brief through to launch and performance review — often running merchant campaigns, retention initiatives, and team projects in parallel. You'll serve as the commercial point of contact with the BD team, make independent calls with imperfect information, and manage stakeholders confidently — including pushing back on scope, timelines, or briefs when needed.
This role evolves. New merchants and products come on board, priorities shift, and what the role looks like in six months may be different from day one. If you thrive when building as you go rather than following a fixed playbook, you'll enjoy it here.
Our relationship with AI
AI is embedded in how we work at ShopBack, not treated as a nice-to-have. We expect everyone on the team to be actively experimenting with AI tools, finding ways to work faster, think sharper, and automate the repetitive stuff. You don't need to be an engineer, but you do need genuine curiosity and a track record of figuring things out with new tools. If you're already building workflows, using AI to improve your output, or just obsessively testing what's possible - that's the appetite we're looking for.
•
Act as a commercial point of contact with the BD team - taking their partner campaigns to market quickly, on-brand, and with commercial impact top of mind
•
Lead planning, execution, and optimisation of retention initiatives across owned channels (app, web, email, push)
•
Design and run experiments to improve engagement, frequency, retention and reactivation; iterating quickly on results
•
Independently analyse performance data to identify opportunities, diagnose issues, and make decisions with imperfect information
•
Partner with commercial, data, design, and operations teams to deliver campaigns and initiatives end-to-end
•
Manage stakeholders confidently - including pushing back on scope, timelines, or briefs when necessary
•
Communicate insights, learnings, and recommendations clearly to internal teams and leadership
•
You own your outcomes and can clearly articulate why initiatives worked or didn't.
•
You make calls with incomplete information, stay organised under competing priorities, and don't wait to be told what to do.
•
You bring energy to the team, earn the respect of the BD team through reliable delivery and honest communication, and actively look for ways to improve results - not just execute briefs.
What we’re looking for
•
3+ years' experience in marketing, campaigns, growth, or a related commercial role - preferably in a fast-paced, high-volume environment (e-commerce, marketplace, fintech, retail tech, or similar)
•
Comfortable working with performance data, identifying trends, and making data-informed recommendations
•
•
AI-native approach to work, experimenting intentionally to improve output quality, efficiency, and decision-making
•
High-energy and commercially sharp - you understand the business behind the brief, aren't afraid to push back on scope, timelines, or unrealistic asks, and have the hustle to get things done
•
High ownership and strong prioritisation - you manage multiple workstreams simultaneously without dropping the ball
•
Confident stakeholder management - you're direct and reliable, and can hold your own with a fast-moving commercial team
•
Adaptable and fast-learning - we're less focused on whether you've done this exact role before; ShopBack's processes are learnable, what we can't teach is drive, judgement, and the ability to operate at pace
•
Proactive and curious - you challenge ideas (including your own) and are comfortable testing, learning, and iterating…
