Key Responsibilities
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment in compliance with DOT regulations
- Operate tractor-trailers to transport equipment and materials to and from job sites
- Verify load security, permits, and specifications for oversized or overweight equipment
- Participate in daily safety meetings and work planning discussions
- Load, unload, and stage materials and equipment for field operations
- Support rail-related work including rerailing, load transfer, and track repair or construction
- Assist with setup, inspection, and operation of cranes and heavy equipment
- Operate machinery such as cranes, excavators, backhoes, dump trucks, and grapple trucks (if qualified)
- Perform rigging activities using chains, cables, and winches
- Use hydraulic tools, welding equipment, torches, electrical tools, and hand tools as needed
- Monitor equipment performance and report mechanical concerns
- Complete minor maintenance and service tasks; escalate complex repairs as needed
- Assist with disassembly, loading, and cleanup after job completion
- Restock tools and materials in preparation for future assignments
- Maintain clean, organized vehicles, equipment, and work areas
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record
- Experience in construction labor or similar hands-on, physically demanding work
- Ability to pass required training, safety, and qualification programs
- Willingness to be on-call and respond to emergency situations at any time
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years operating heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, front-end loaders, grapple trucks, skid steers, or similar machinery
- Experience working with rail equipment or in construction/industrial environments
