Essential Responsibilities
Production & Workflow Coordination
- Oversee daily fabrication activities within the miscellaneous metals shop.
- Execute production schedules and prioritize work to meet operational goals.
- Assign labor and coordinate workflow to maximize productivity.
- Monitor project progress and provide updates on production status.
- Coordinate fitting, welding, assembly, and material movement throughout the shop.
Team Leadership
- Supervise shop personnel, including welders, fitters, operators, and laborers.
- Provide coaching, training, and support for employee development.
- Lead daily safety and production meetings.
- Assist with staffing needs and workforce planning.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and communication.
Safety & Quality Compliance
- Ensure adherence to all workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain compliance with fabrication specifications, quality requirements, and established tolerances.
- Identify and address production or quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Promote housekeeping standards and overall shop organization.
- Work closely with quality personnel regarding inspections and fabrication requirements.
Equipment & Facility Management
- Monitor equipment performance and readiness for production.
- Coordinate maintenance and repair activities when needed.
- Ensure materials, consumables, and inventory are properly stored and available.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to shop efficiency and organization.
Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Monitor labor utilization, productivity, efficiency, and rework.
- Track production output and schedule performance.
- Participate in operational reviews and performance reporting.
- Assist with forecasting labor requirements and future production needs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration

Qualifications
- 5–10 years of experience in miscellaneous metals fabrication.
- Previous experience in a foreman, supervisor, lead fabricator, or similar leadership role preferred.
- Strong understanding of fabrication processes, shop workflow, and production operations.
- Experience managing labor resources, production schedules, and shop activities.
- Knowledge of fabrication safety practices and quality standards.
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining productivity and quality expectations.
