➡️ What you'll do
- Lead and develop the team: Manage 8 people covering client protection, GDPR, outsourcing & partnerships, product governance, DORA, and anti-corruption — the full non-AML compliance scope.
- Own the Credit Institution compliance roadmap: Ensure Qonto is ready to operate as a Credit Institution with the expected level of rigor and governance. You define the path and you deliver it.
- Enable compliant product launches: Partner with Product & Strategy teams to design and ship new credit & savings products. Your guidance needs to be timely, actionable, and pragmatic — not a blocker.
- Manage regulatory relationships: Own interactions with banking and data protection authorities across all markets. Ensure the team delivers accurate, consistent replies to supervisors in every country where Qonto operates.
- Scale through tooling and AI: Leverage AI to handle first-level analysis and improve responsiveness, while maintaining quality, traceability, and human-in-the-loop controls.
➡️ What we're looking for
- Deep regulatory compliance experience: 8–12+ years in banking or financial services compliance, ideally with exposure to both payment and banking regulations. You've seen what a Credit Institution license requires — not just read about it.
- Team leadership at scale: Proven experience leading compliance teams and scaling an operating model in an international, multi-stakeholder context.
- Regulator engagement: You've owned supervisory deliverables — remediation plans, action plans, regulatory examinations. You're comfortable being the face of compliance with authorities.
- Business partnership: You translate complex regulatory requirements into clear decision frameworks for Product and Business teams. You make compliance enabling, not blocking.
- Languages: Fluent French (mandatory for ACPR interactions) and fluent English. Other European languages are a plus.
➡️ What we can offer you
- A role at the centre of Qonto's next chapter: The Credit Institution transition is the most significant regulatory milestone in Qonto's history. You'll be in the room with top management and competent authorities, shaping how we get there.
- Real multi-market complexity: France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium — eight markets, multiple regulators, one framework to build.
- Build the model, don't just run it: You'll shape the team structure and operating model that scales with Qonto's ambitions. This isn't a maintenance role.
- AI-forward compliance: Qonto invests in AI tooling for compliance workflows. You'll have the tools and mandate to rethink how regulatory work gets done.
➡️ Your future manager
Your manager will be Alex Tribolet, Head of Regulatory at Qonto.
- His path? Alex joined Qonto in 2021 and structured the entire Regulatory team — non-AML Compliance, GDPR, Regulatory Reporting, Supervisory Engagements, and Internal Governance. Before Qonto, he built deep regulatory experience at HSBC across Regulatory Affairs, Brexit-related projects, and Investment Banking compliance. He also sits on the Board of AFEPAME (French Payments Association), contributing to industry lobbying.
- What does he bring to the team? A collaborative, pragmatic, business-oriented leadership style. He gives his team real ownership and expects compliance to be an enabler, not a gatekeeper.
