Software Engineer - Platform & Infrastructure

About the Role

Promise is looking for a Platform & Infrastructure Engineer to help shape how we deliver and run software — with automation at the center of everything you do.

You'll build the systems that let us ship faster, smarter, safer, and better. Working closely with our Product and Forward Deployed Engineers, you'll give them the foundation they need to solve real customer problems — so they can stay focused on exactly that.

The through line of this role: fewer humans in the loop for the things that don't need them. That means owning deployments, environment setup, security, on-call triage, policy checks, cost reviews, and compliance evidence — and systematically taking humans out of those flows wherever it makes sense.

What You'll Do

• Build and own our GCP infrastructure, Kubernetes clusters, and Terraform IaC
• Own CI/CD across all services — end to end
• Build internal platforms and tooling that help product engineers ship with less friction
• Use AI to automate platform work that used to require a human
• Respond to incidents, own the postmortem, and close the loop so they don't repeat
• Partner with Engineering, IT, and Security to build the pipelines our products run on

What Will Help You Succeed

• 5+ years in software or infrastructure, with meaningful time in a platform, infra, or SRE role
• Kubernetes experience in production
• Solid Terraform or equivalent IaC experience
• A track record of building internal systems other teams depend on and trust
• You've been on-call for things you built, and you have real opinions about what that taught you
• You use AI tools in your own work and can speak to how and why

• Google Cloud Platform (our primary cloud)
• ArgoCD experience
• TypeScript or Go
• Fintech, Payments, or GovTech background
• SOC 2, FedRAMP, or PCI experience
