Who You Are
- 2–4 years of recruiting experience sourcing and screening technical talent — software engineers, AI/ML engineers, or adjacent roles. Agency, embedded, or in-house all work.
- Active AI tool user — sourcing agents, automated outreach sequences, AI-assisted screening. Already using these, not learning about them.
- Credibly fluent on the AI engineering side — can hold a conversation about LLMs, agents, RAG, or evals, and tell the difference between someone who's shipped with this stack and someone who's adjacent to it.
- Strong written communicator — outreach gets opened and replied to because it sounds like a real person who did the research, not a template.
- Organized and proactive with admin — keeps the ATS clean, moves candidates through stages without being chased, keeps hiring managers informed.
- Comfortable in a fast-moving, low-structure environment — things change quickly here and you don't need a lot of hand-holding.
What You'll Do
- Source proactively for AI and engineering roles across Lazer's Core practice — building targeted lists, writing thoughtful personalized outreach, and running focused sourcing sprints.
- Manage candidate communications end-to-end: scheduling, coordinating interview loops, keeping candidates warm and informed at every stage.
- Maintain clean, accurate records in Ashby — stage updates, notes, sourcing tags — so the team always has a clear picture of the pipeline.
- Screen inbound and sourced candidates at the top of the funnel and pass well-qualified profiles to the Senior Technical Recruiter and hiring managers with clear context.
- Use AI to do more — build or use sourcing agents, automate repetitive outreach tasks, and keep raising the bar on what you can output independently.
- Support offer logistics — reference checks, scheduling debrief calls, tracking offer status — so nothing falls through the cracks at the close.
- Learn the market — develop fluency in AI engineering comp, what candidates care about, and what we're competing against, and surface that intel to the team.
Nice-to-Haves
- Prior experience recruiting specifically for AI/ML engineering roles
- Familiarity with Ashby or comparable ATS
- Existing network in AI engineering or tech talent communities in US or Canada
- Experience building or using sourcing automation tools (Clay, Apollo, etc.)
AI in our hiring process
We use AI to help us review and shortlist applications based on job-related criteria. A human hiring manager always makes the call on who moves forward. As a company that builds with AI every day, we're all for candidates using it too — just be upfront about how it helped.
