Significance is seeking a Junior Financial Analyst to support our DHS team. This is a fully remote opportunity for a finance professional with at least three years of experience and the ability to obtain and maintain a DHS Public Trust clearance.
We have an immediate need for a Federal Financial Analyst - Entry Level (DHS) with professional, interpersonal and analytical skills to help our clients identify and solve their complex challenges. The best candidate enjoys working creatively with and actively contributing to their team to transform their client’s business processes, improve efficiency of operations, strengthen internal controls and ultimately achieve their strategic mission and objectives. This position will support the Department Homeland Security (DHS) Federal Protective Service (FPS). FPS is the law enforcement agency of DHS that protects public servants and their customers in facilities where the government conducts business.
This position will provide the following services
- Budget Support Services – support throughout the entire Federal budget process from formulation, to spend plan creation, contract closeout, and executing the current fiscal year budget.
- Support the development of the FPS FPMD Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution reference guide and training to be provided to the regions’ budgetary and financial community.
- Consolidate historical financial and budgetary records.
- Provide financial and budgetary records management support.
- Develop and provide knowledge management support through practices and process documentation.
- Provide supporting documents to questions arising about obligations, and
- Provide reporting on obligation timeliness, new obligations values vs. contract closeout de-obligations, backlogs, and error rates.
Required Skills
- 3 years demonstrating proficiency in developing and owning work products in Microsoft office suite to include Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, portraying an ability to work independently, maintain attention to detail, and maintain a high standard for work products.
- 1 year of professional experience with project management and program analysis, with hands on experience presenting information verbally and facilitating discussions with representatives from all levels of an organization.
- 2 years professional experience working in teams, demonstrating interpersonal, team-building, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- An interest in learning about Federal financial execution (reimbursables, federal accounting cycle, reconciliations)
- Demonstrated capability to independently conduct background research, structure written work products, and articulate findings succinctly
- Ability to attain a public trust security clearance.
- An interest in working with Federal business systems related to accounting, accountability and financial reporting procedures with the Federal agencies.
Desired Skills
- Professional experience and/or coursework in data analytics or data visualization tools to include MS Excel, PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik, SQL, and/or creating macros.
- Professional experience and/or coursework in accounting and/or financial management.
- Experience with business process re-engineering/optimization to include documenting current procedures, conducting gap analysis to identify inefficiencies, identifying key performance metrics.
