Core Responsibilities
1) Product & Engineering Support
- Advise product and engineering teams on legal issues across the product lifecycle (e.g., data use, integrations, encryption, export controls, OSS use)
- Review new features, architectures, and vendor integrations for IP and product risk
- Support AI feature reviews, including participation in AI impact assessment processes
- Help identify recurring risks and propose scalable solutions (AI agents and automations, playbooks, templates)
2) Open Source & Technology Licensing
- Review and advise on open source software usage and licensing
- Support OSS compliance processes and internal tooling
- Assist with drafting and updating OSS and IP-related policies
3) IP Portfolio (Patents, Trademarks, Copyright)
- Support patent program, including invention harvesting, disclosure review, and coordination with outside counsel
- Assist with trademark clearance, filings, and portfolio management
- Contribute to IP enforcement strategy (e.g., reviewing infringement issues, demand letters)
4) Commercial & Vendor Support
- Partner with commercial legal team to support negotiation of IP, AI, and product-related terms
- Review vendor agreements and technology partnerships for IP and AI issues
- Act as a subject matter resource on IP and AI clauses in customer and vendor contracts
5) M&A and Strategic Projects
- Support IP diligence for acquisitions and strategic partnerships
- Assist with integration of acquired IP and technology into company systems and portfolio
6) Policies, Training, and Scaling Legal Support
- Help draft and maintain IP, AI, and product-related policies
- Deliver practical guidance and training to business teams
- Contribute to building scalable legal processes (e.g., templates, workflows, intake systems)
Experience & Qualifications
Required Skills
- 5+ years of legal experience
- Combination of:
- Law firm experience (required)
- In-house experience at a technology company (strongly preferred)
- JD and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
Core Skills
- Strong practical judgment and ability to give clear, business-friendly advice
- Ability to work cross-functionally with product and engineering teams
- Comfortable handling multiple workstreams simultaneously
- Clear, concise communicator (written and verbal)
Subject Matter Experience
- Product counseling (AI, privacy, data use, integrations)
- Familiarity with at least two or more of the following:
- Patents and patent prosecution process
- Open-source licensing
Preferred Skills
- Experience supporting SaaS products
- Exposure to AI/ML or data governance issues
- Experience participating in IP diligence for M&A
- Technical background (engineering or software) is a plus

The base salary range for this job family is 137,000 to 259,000 USD annually. This range reflects the base pay the company reasonably expects to offer for this position, aligned to the broader job family base pay structure. Actual base pay may vary based on skills, experience, and location, including job family level. In addition to base pay, Arctic Wolf offers variable incentive compensation, new hire equity grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
