Technical Writer - Internship

Responsibilities

• Determine the needs of end users of technical documentation;
• Talk with Product Managers and Product Developers, and study early product builds;
• Work with UX designers and product developers to ensure that UI text (field labels, error messages, etc.) are meaningful and error-free;
• Get hands-on with the product to ensure accurate documentation;
• Develop customer-facing documentation for new products and features, including content, charts, illustrations, etc.;
• Integrate documentation into product builds;
• Review existing documentation, and recommend edits and reorganization;
• Standardize content across platforms and media;
• Gather usability feedback Collaborate with teams across the company including Customer Success, Marketing, and Learning and Development;

Skills and Experience

• Strong English speaking and writing skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Working towards a university degree or college diploma in English, Business, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field
• Familiarity with DITA-OT, oXygen XML Author, and related tools and techniques would be an asset
• Familiarity CSS, HTML, Javadoc, Markdown, Sphinx, PostMan, and/or Python would be an asset
• Networking knowledge/experience would be an asset
