What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end design strategy and execution for BetterUp’s full Growth surface—including conversion experiments, onboarding, lifecycle and transactional communications, and auth flows.
- Lead growth test design: rapidly ideate, prototype, and iterate on conversion and activation experiments in partnership with product and data science.
- Define and evolve the onboarding experience—shaping the new user journey from first touch to time-to-value, reducing friction, and building habit.
- Own emails and messages: design lifecycle and transactional communications that are clear, on-brand, and drive meaningful engagement.
- Design and maintain sign-up, login, and identity flows that are seamless, secure, and optimized for conversion at the top of the funnel.
- Translate ambiguous growth briefs into clear design frameworks and testable hypotheses that guide teams toward measurable outcomes.
- Partner with senior product, engineering, and marketing leaders to shape Growth’s product direction and long-term roadmap.
- Mentor designers and elevate design craft across the Growth team—through critique, feedback, and hands-on guidance.
What You'll Bring
- 7+ years of product design experience, with meaningful depth in Growth, conversion optimization, or funnel-stage product surfaces.
- Proven track record running and learning from high-cadence design experiments—you’re comfortable shipping fast and iterating on signal.
- Experience designing onboarding flows, email/notification systems, and auth experiences for consumer or B2B SaaS products.
- A portfolio demonstrating both sharp interaction design craft and a data-informed approach to design decisions.
- Demonstrated ability to influence product direction at a senior leadership level.
- Experience mentoring designers and fostering both autonomy and alignment on cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication skills and a track record of aligning stakeholders around a shared design vision.

As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll
- Anticipate industry-shifting AI capabilities and position BetterUp to leverage them ahead of competitors in how we design and build product experiences.
- Lead enterprise-wide AI transformation initiatives within the Design org that span multiple functions and product surfaces.
- Drive technical vision for how AI will reshape product capabilities and development practices over 3–5 year horizons.
- Build AI research and experimentation programs that discover breakthrough design applications before they become industry standard.
- Mentor senior leaders and peers on AI strategy, helping them think critically about emerging technologies and their implications for design craft.
